Legal / cookies and storage

Know what stays on your device

The editorial site code does not set cookies, use local storage or add analytics. Browser features and separately supplied publishing controls are distinct.

What cookies are

Cookies are small values that a website or service can ask a browser to store and return with later requests. Browser local storage is a separate mechanism for retaining values on a device. Either may be used for essential settings or, in other implementations, analytics and advertising.

What the editorial code uses

The supplied HTML, stylesheet and JavaScript do not create cookies, read or write local storage, or include advertising and analytics scripts. Menu state, animation state and checklist selections are held temporarily in the page. The website does not deliberately retain them between visits.

The contact draft is also temporary. Copying writes the prepared text to your clipboard if you permit it. Downloading saves a text file through your browser. Neither action submits the message to us, and neither creates a site cookie.

Storage used by the editorial features
FeatureMechanismDuration or control
Menu and readiness checksCurrent page stateNot deliberately persisted; browser page restoration may vary.
Message previewCurrent page memoryNot saved by the tool.
Copy messageDevice clipboard, after an explicit actionControlled by the device and later clipboard use.
Download messageLocal text file, after an explicit actionRemains until you move or delete it.

Hosting and publishing controls

The hosting or publishing environment may separately supply security, delivery or consent-management controls. Those controls are not implemented in the editorial script described here. If a consent interface is displayed, use its own controls to review or change the choices it offers. This page does not invent cookie names or expiry periods for services that have not been identified.

HTTP caching, hosting logs and browser autofill are not the same as cookies. Hosting requests can involve technical information even when cookies are disabled. See the Privacy policy for the wider context.

Manage your device

You can inspect or remove site data using your browser's privacy settings. You can also clear the clipboard, delete downloaded drafts and disable form autofill according to your browser or operating-system instructions. Clearing site data may remove preferences supplied by separate publishing controls.

External websites linked from our guides apply their own storage practices once you visit them. Review their policies independently. Questions about this site's editorial code can be sent to [email protected].
